Music videos are a medium of the media word which are able not only to entertain but also inform and convey specific messages. Through the music videos, artists are able to reach a wider audience and use specific visuals to enhance and conduct their message to the viewers. In my project I used several symbols and emotive imagery which helped me to connect the compounds of the project altogether and incorporate a united sense within them. In my music video I wanted to elaborate the importance of taking time for oneself and being in solitude, while there were constantly existing emotional distractions and pressures in the social world. Moreover I wanted to conduct ideas of personal thoughts, dreams, and withdrawal in oneself due to diverse desires and reveries. I believe such a tendency could be experienced by every second teenager, therefore I decided to depict the theme of loneliness. I wanted to communicate that being alone and finding inner strengths is a common desire of the young generations. Through conveying my personal associations of solitude in the music video I hoped what my audience would relate to the emotions and experience portrayed. In my digipac I tried to reflect the overall idea I presented in my music video. The color schemes: black and white, beige and pink, conveying a melancholic, dreary, however elegiac feeling. I depicted the specific imagery of myself, there my portrayal is blurred, smudged, divided and collapsed. By creating such a choice I wanted to represent the variety, duality, inconsistency and dynamics of human emotions. The image of the digipak also reflected the dreamy and surreal aesthetic of the video. The chaotic handwritten text creates an additional design detail implementing the confusion and abruptness of the person's emotions. I believe the handwritten text, and additional texture added in my designs and music video creates a sense of personality, liveliness of my project. In my social media page I promoted the idea of human emotions through posting thematic pictures from my photoshoot, as well as elaborating texts and messages in my posts, discussing the nature of human emotions. In my portfolio I aimed to highlight the inclination of teenagers to devote themself to dreams and overwhelming emotions.
Creating a strong and cohesive brand identity is an important aspect of any successful creative project. In my project I had a goal to create a sense of branding through visual appealing by coving emotional themes and messages through symbols, details and colors. To achieve this I carefully designed the social media page for my new artist's identity with original pictures and posters that corporates with the overall eastertic of my brand identity creating a consistent image across all compounds of my project. I designed an original Digipack that reflects the same design and style elements as my music video and added an overall image to the created identity, featuring a main character that represents her being i n loneliness, dreaminess and being lost in her emotions and dreams. Through these consistent visuals as themed pictures, textures, consisted typefaces, mixed media elements, handwritten typography, smudged and vague logo details, I was able to create a cohesive and authentic brand identity that would resonate with my intended young audience. To establish my brand and ethical creation, I designed an original pseudonim and logo for my artis, representing the logo for the album and title for the music video which are all elaborated in the same and compatible style. The usage of my own handwritten text, personally created pictures and myself as a representative of my brand, adding my signature to it and defining my ownership of it. By conveying all brand compounds: music video, digipak, social media page in the same aesthetic and color scheme, creates a recognizable and authentic image of my products. This unified approach of branding helped me to establish my brand identity and make my work recognizable and unique to my audience, allowing me to connect with them on a higher level and conduct my intended messages more effectively.
In my project I focused on creating relatable teenage characters that viewers could easily interpret and associate with.By feetirung a protagonist ehi epxerince emotions and situations many teengagers can relate to, I had purpose to create a reconnection with my audience. To engage my audience more, I took the advantage of creating social media presenting my project to a wider audience, interacting with it and receiving feedback. As asn influence, I shared original content related to my project to generate interest. I also used social media accounts to gather reactions of the audience such as likes, comments and reposts, allowing me to better understand their perspective and adjust my approach. In terms of music video I incorporated a modern style of the music which is popular among the teenage audience. Moreover I chose the song which conveys my intended message and allows me to convey it in an additional sensitive way. Due to this I was able to elaborate a more engaging experience for my viewers and receive the incorporated message on a deeper level. I embodied themes of everyday life into my music video, like sadness, loneliness, and dreaminess which are familiar to every teenager. By exploring my own emotions and feelings and presenting them in my project, I hoped to create a resonance and connection with my audience. Ultimately, I was striving to establish my project consistently and persistently across all my media products: CDpack, music video, and social media. In the Digipack I used myself as the same representative model, as well as the same colors and context of the aesthetic. I was connecting my audience to my narrative through symbolism specific symbolic elements such as water, nature, distracted picture and text, noise to create more immerse, connected and associating experience to them.
The several researches during my project creating path helped me to investigate and gain knowledge in a few media fields. In my research of convention of music videos I explore how the music video ate combining the music and visual imagery to create a compelling story and specific emotional experience to the viewer. Understanding the techniques and conventions such as editing, camera angles, lighting and special effecrs helped me to understand the right approach of music video creation. The conventions such as narrative structure, cultural references and usage of symbolism could shape a meaning and a message within the video. Besides investigating music videos conventions, the reseracgh on Teenager;s represenation in the film industry helped me to shape an inderatduing of how the young generation could be portrayed in the media, as well as the purposes of it. Through research I identified romanticized sigmas, stereotypes and some social issues associated within youngsters. This topic opened for me a deeper realization of the teenagers' emotional and mental strugglings illustrated in the media world. Considering the safety and managing of ot in media, the Media regulations case study guided me to specific goals and purposes which should be followed in terms to protect mental safety and privacy of the users, usually young ones. Investigation on this area gave an understanding of how I should elaborate my media page and which tricks I have to and have to not use in my music video to convey a message and idea. For example, to endure my content is safe and relatable to watch and present I must not promote and depict and opened violence and sexuality. Additionally, the deeper diving specifically into mise-en-scene of the movies narrated to me a potentiality of the outlet space and background around the character as a main story telling feature. The positioning of actors' props, lighting, colors of the scene, framing, camera movement and other elements play a significant role in conducting messages and reconnecting to the audience. Annualization of specific cases provided me with skills of determining additional information of the story not from the narration but from the visual elements of the media. In my music video I was trying to implement mise-en-scene to better narrate the story and feeling of the character, in terms of presenting solitude and dreaminess through the positioning of the character all alone on the shot, or exaggerating on the portrait, or covering the background people in the frame. Overall, research in various media fields enhanced my media literacy and enabled me to create a meaningful project.
