Trends VS Self Expression
Words such as fashion, style and trend are mixed in their concepts. Obviously, they are related, but they differ in the root of their meaning. Fashion is a collection of certainties: time, habits, and trends. Trends are shaping fashion, but they are not sustainable and long lasting. In other words, trends are what most people are like at a certain time. Meanwhile, style is a manifestation of individuality. The style is often not fashionable or trendy. But it is definitely something that is harmonious, connected through aspects of its demonstration. Trends and fashion are tied to the fact of certainty, time, demand and popularity, when the style is completely free of these frameworks. Ironically, style, which is often confused with fashion that does not obey it, is the basis of trends. The distinctive styles and manners of other influencers, that are most loved and intrigued by the people, become new trends.
What is the main problem?
People forget that the style does not obey the routine and the usual visions of society. For this reason, those who show their original image are most often misunderstood and underestimated. There are widespread statements about appearance: “not fashionable”, “not beautiful”. These opinions have no significance, because style is the very essence of the experiment, and it is the source of authenticity and originality. Hence the fun fact: what is the incomprehensible thing becomes accepted when it becomes popular and popular among a large number of consumers and viewers.
It follows here, that society, with its habitual trends and opinions, is not a fundamental critic for something completely new. Important to understand: it is impossible to prevent the formation of an authentic pattern in a person, since absolutely every aspect of appearance is a direct representation of the individual’s inner world. Suppression of external disclosure and self-expression harms the very essence of individuality, its variety. What society will be more free and liberated in the manifestation of its creativity and inner “Me”: following the notorious trends stolen from the brave and creative ones, or open to new achievements in terms of demonstrating appearance potential?
