Final Music Video
In my music video I presented the song “Desire” through the footage conveying specific story, mood and feelings. In my video I used a range of outdoor shots and portrait shots. My goal was to convey a mixed media technique, as I was inspired to gain experience in creating such special effects. I challenged the convention of music videos such as lip-sync and performance, because I did not include such features in my video.
My target was to present the narrative through thematic elements, without telling a specific story and event but create a sense of specific emotions, which I associated with the song. The main special effect which I was able to successfully and easily apply was Jump cuts, Slow motion, Reverse shots, and Time-lapse.
For my video I mainly used Adobe Premiere Pro, and additionally Photoshop to create some additional details such as video logo title and footage for mixed media moments. For my video project I pre shooted my videos mainly on my Canon Camera and my Iphone Camera. For additional editing I used the iPhone's editing tool to change the saturation, contrast and etc of the videos. My idea was to implement the video in old school, 90s style footage creating additional noise and grain overlay effects.
Ultimately I almost met my expectations for my video, I believe I partially succeeded and created a good representative for the chosen song, however there are some moments which are not satisfying for myself. At the beginning I planned to incorporate more mixed media footage, however proved to be a complex and time-consuming process, as well as video editing in general. I like the appearance and style of the video, but I believe I need to work more on planning of footage creation, and on the post editing process.
